Responsiblity is an important thing. It is the foundation of all systems of justice, from “God will send you to Hell (NSFW)” to systems that actually work. People must be held responsible for their actions, and must accept the consequences, even if they don’t know what those consequences are.
What is fundamental to the concept of responsibility of action is an assumption of free will. Without free will, an individual is not in control of their actions and choices. But does free will really exist, or is it simply a function of not knowing what the future holds? Read more »

Language is an ever-changing beast, and English is the most mutagenic language in the world. Perhaps that is the reason why it is spoken in so many different countries; rather than try to teach a structured, invented language like Esperanto or Sindarin to foreigners, it is easier to allow English to transmogrify by the local language and its dialects.
